We are doing a series of Lighter Cocktails in the Cottage for January and some of February! In this series, held over social media on Valentia Island Vermouth’s Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channels, we celebrate low- no and moderate drinking. Vermouth is an aperitif, and is therefore considered a low alcohol option. Our vermouth is 19% ABV so is roughly half the strength of a spirit. For this series of Lighter Cocktails in the Cottage for January and some of February, we are focussing on lighter, low alcohol, vermouth cocktails and have mixed Valentia Island Vermouth with non- alcohol mixers, to create super light, super delicious and super easy-to-make, cocktails.

As always, we have championed other Irish made drinks. The series includes a Valentia Lemongrass Spritz made with delicious Habanero and Lemongrass Spritz, Chili Rita made by Karl in the Dublin Cocktail Lab. A classic V&T, that is served simply with Valentia Island Vermouth over ice, Poachers tonic and a slice of orange. A low alcohol sangria using our vermouth and fellow woman-in-wine, Mejken Bech Bailey’s wine alternative BÆK. And a zero prosecco Valentia Spritz. If you are looking to moderate your drinking, doing damp January or simply cutting down, a vermouth based low alcohol cocktail has all the flavour and less of the hangover. Love that equation. Check out the recipe below for a zero prosecco, Valentia Spritz.

A Lighter Valentia Spritz
